Shitty link
Why is it that a respected company like www.scan.co.uk continue to use Citylink? If you work part time, or have a shift pattern, or are a lazy bastard that doesn’t work, you can order from them safe in the knowledge that Citylink will get your stuff to your house. The other side of the coin is that if you work from 8-5 (and get home about 6-8pm) you have got absolutely ZERO chance of receiving your product(s). You can’t phone scan to arrange some other delivery because you’re in work, you can’t phone Citylink because they are as helpful as a retarded child smoking a spliff the size of Mars.
So here I sit, having missed two deliveries. One on Monday that arrived at 3:30pm when the last person in my house left at midday. Today they delivered at 9:36an when there was no one in my house until just after midday. So, on to the phone I go to speak with them to arrange this to be delivered before 9am or after 5pm. Will they do this? Of course not, this “is not a service we provide”, mumbled the retarded stoner. So now this stoner assures me that my package will remain at their depot as they’ve tried to deliver it twice. Sadly for me, having no transport I cannot get to their depot in STANNEY MILL INDUSTRIAL PARK LITTLE STANNEY CHESTER CH2 4SA, as if you use www.192.com you will see there is no train that runs from the station to them, and it’s approximately 3 miles from the station. I think we’ll all agree that my package will have been attempted to be delivered again tomorrow, so if I finish work an hour early to collect these (badly needed) computer items, they won’t be there, they’ll be on a van somewhere. This leaves me with one option, which is leave for work tomorrow, try and phone them from work to check it’s still there, tell them to keep it there until Thursday when I can get someone to drive there to pick it up.
Yes, this is a top quality delivery service from a company that Scan have been using for years, and constantly receiving complaints about for years (as confirmed by their support staff when I’ve had to phone them on several occasions regarding this sort of thing). If it wasn’t for the fact that with all the other companies in this area going bust recently, or hiking their prices I’d happily never use Scan again. Sadly your options are severely limited. All it would take is for them to use a company that listen to your problem and actually try to help you out, like DHL, Fed Ex, etc, etc. I’ve even had DHL (who refuse point blank to deliver to anywhere other than the purchasers address) hand over goods to me after a website I used, cocked up the delivery address number. That was good service, but nope not Citylink. They are just a bunch of managerial fuck wits.
